Newry Islands

We set out from Victor Creek boat ramp, just out of Seaforth, about 11:30 am with an ebbing tide and trawled across to Mausoleum Island which is a 30 minute paddle. We hooked a nice sized Golden Travelly about half way and took about 15 minutes to land it on board. Great fun letting it drag us around till it got tired.
We could have spent all day at Mausoleum Island as it has some nice beaches but it is not permitted as a fishing area. Will return sometime soon to snorkel.
We paddled to the eastern side of Outer Newry which put us into the sea swell which the Tempo handled well, and rounded the top of the Island past Fish Reef (looks a good spot for spear fishing) back into smoother water and landed on a small stoney clearing between mangroves.
This landing has a path up the side of the Island to the camp area which has a hut with table and seats, a water tank and outer toilet.
We set up our tent and settled in for the evening. Sunset was amazing and wildlife (Billbys) at dark, well, was a little annoying as they kept bumping into the tent till they got the message via flashlight, they weren't needed.
